Kadurin Lab — Jun 30, 2025
Today, we welcomed the Inaugural Symposium of the Centre of Molecular Cell Biology (CMCB) at Queen Mary University of London. The Centre spans from atomic structures and dynamics of living systems to their organisation in sub-cellular assemblies, tissues, and organs. This diverse range of scale and themes enables us to perform interdisciplinary and translational work, turning fundamental discoveries into opportunities for drug discovery, clinical advances, and biotechnology.
Our colleagues and guests presented a plethora of exciting discoveries in structural biology, bacteriology, and cell biology. We also engaged in an energetic panel discussion on Engineering Biology for Cellular Adaptation in a Changing World, including what our role is in both preventing and adapting to the key issues we currently face including antimicrobial resistance and the climate crisis.
Our Principal Investigator, Ivan, closed the day with a talk titled An autoinhibitory switch that sets neuronal calcium channels for physiological signalling, while our PhD student, AJ, presented a complementary poster on the Kadurin lab's work.
We want to extend our thanks to our colleagues at the CMCB for organising an invigorating symposium, attendees for engaging so enthusiastically in our research, and our funders for making this possible.
